Birmingham August 2007

On August 28,2007 we had to go to Birmingham for Aiden to have a sleep study and have his feeding tube inserted. The sleep study was so that he could get the bipap. Insurence will not pay for it with out the study. The study was almost a $1,000. Seems like it would have been cheaper just to get the bipap.

This is Aiden hanging out in the hotel watching Madagascar!

Aiden and His G-Momma

All hooked up for the study

A little smile before they took him to surgery on the 29th.

In recovery, he looks so dazed!
Trying to give us a little smile the next day

Aiden and Danny

When we got to go home, Aiden was so happy. He smiled constantly. We had been in Birmingham for 6 days. G-Momma and I would ask "Are you ready to go home?" He would light up!

He finally gave up!

Silly boy!

Aiden is such a sleepy boy!!!

June 2007

This was an extremely hard month. June 18th is when we went to Vanderbilt and Dr. Fenishcel told us that he thought that Aiden had SMA. He did not tell us much more than the name and that there was no cure. He let us come home and read all about. It was like getting punched in the stomach.

Aiden's First Food

Yummy!
Aiden is always so sweet when he is asleep, I had to get him up early to carry him for 4 month checkup with Dr. Carter, so I snapped a few shots.

Mommy, Stop it!
These were taken when we got home from Vanderbilt

May 2007

This is about a month before Aiden's Doctor's realized there was a problem.
We thought he was developing normally, except he didn't want to lift his legs up.
Looking back now, we should have realized that Aiden was developing correctly.
He refused to spend any time on his tummy and could not lift his head when he was
but everyone reassured us that babies are slow to take to tummytime because
of the back to sleep program.

Just Me and the Lion
We took this picture to congratulate G~Momma in graduating from UNA.
GO LIONS!!!For some reason, Aiden thought sticking your tongue out at him
was the vilest thing ever! (now, he laughs at it)
Aiden and Pendleton
(He also has Templeton and Monty but they were elsewhere that day.)
I just thought it was funny to give dinos such absurd names.

Aiden used to be amazed when his hand would get covered.
He loved to stick them in his mouth.
